Trail design
We’re here to design trails that work.
A creative and thoughtful approach to trail design.
At Dirt Tek Trails, our design work is rooted in real-world terrain, practical build logistics, and user experience. Every line we lay out is driven by on-the-ground evaluation of grade, flow, and environmental constraints. So what gets designed is truly buildable, rideable, and longstanding.
Concept planning & feasibility
We start by collaborating with land managers, stakeholders, or volunteer groups to define the trail system’s purpose and user base. From there, we evaluate terrain, access points, and site constraints to determine what’s possible, what’s smart, and what will be the most fun to ride.
Master planning & trail system layout
We create full-scale plans that identify line types, difficulty progression, access connections, and overall mileage. Our approach balances rider experience with land use compatibility, laying out systems that evolve naturally with the terrain.
Flagline & field design
Every line is flagged on foot using practical grade checks and visual assessments. We align trails to maximize natural features, minimize excavation, and ensure sustainable drainage.
Build-ready design documents
When needed, we provide layout maps, line profiles, detailed construction notes, and trail specs. These documents support accurate budgeting, permitting, or grant submittals, and give a clear roadmap for construction.
Feature integration & technical design
We incorporate terrain-informed jumps, berms, rock lines, and signature features based on site potential and user goals. Our designs balance safety, progression, and creativity. No generic flow, no wasted dirt.
Sustainability & maintenance planning
We design with long-term durability in mind—focusing on natural drainage, slope-appropriate trail geometry, and material efficiency. Where needed, we provide maintenance plans and trail management guidance.
