Extraterrestrial gravity trail

Sending it on Extra-Terrestrial—where Idaho’s forest meets full-send fun.

Dirt Tek Trails partnered with Pend Oreille Pedalers to bring a creative and technical vision to life in Sandpoint’s rugged city watershed with the Extra-Terrestrial trail. Designed for riders who love precision lines, natural features, and sculpted flow, this trail delivers a thrilling experience while navigating sensitive terrain with care.

Extraterrestrial weaves through towering pines and exposed rock, blending hand-finished finesse with machine-built speed. But what truly sets this trail apart is what’s beneath the surface. Built in a protected municipal watershed, the project demanded meticulous drainage and erosion control, from thoughtful ditching and culvert placement to rock armoring and strategic bridge work. The result is a trail that not only rides beautifully but performs exceptionally well in wet conditions.

We were very impressed with how meticulous Brandon and his team were when it came to drainage and erosion control. Since we were building in our city watershed, it was critical to ensure that the best practices were utilized to protect our community’s drinking water. I would love for every future builder in our watershed to walk the finished Dirt Tek Trail to see what incredible ditching, culvert installation, rock armoring, and bridge placement look like. When the build was completed, Dirt Tek Trails gifted our community with one of the best trails any of us had ever ridden. The final build incorporated fast flowy, beautifully shaped jumps, and simply insane berms.

The trail was given the name Extra-Terrestrial. About a week after the Dirt Tek Team departed, we experienced an intense rain storm that soaked our watershed with over 3 inches of rain in 36 hours. Just two days after the storm, Extra-Terrestrial was ready to ride with no standing water and no erosion issues.
