Crown Royale
Dirt Tek Trails and RFMBA collaboration
Threading the needle, flowing through Colorado aspens for the Roaring Fork Mountain Bike Association.
Dirt Tek Trails partnered with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and Roaring Fork Mountain Bike Association (RFMBA) to construct the upper miles of Crown Royale—a purpose-built downhill trail that sets the tone for one of Colorado’s most exciting new descents.
Our team tackled the first 4+ miles of the build, carving high-speed flow through the aspen glades and scrubby ridgelines above Basalt. With generous sight lines, sculpted berms, rollers, and natural grade reversals, this top section delivers the kind of smooth, surfy rhythm that riders chase lap after lap. It’s designed to carry speed, reward progression, and kick off the Crown Royale experience with a bang.
The trail was built with long-term durability in mind, using native materials, strategic drainage, and sustainable shaping to handle high traffic without sacrificing ride quality. Rider reviews say it best: “an absolute ripper of a descent,” “perfectly built corners,” and “hero dirt when it’s running right.”

“We contracted with Dirt Tek Trails to implement one of the most important projects in our organization’s history. From the start, working with Candice Kozark and Brandon Arce was a positive experience; the professionalism and experience of their team were apparent throughout the trail alignment refining and trail-building process. Our board members, and more importantly, our community of members and riders, have given the highest praise to the quality of this descending-only flow trail with berms and jump features that have pleased riders at both intermediate and expert levels.”
