Coal Basin Ranch

New trail additions - Grin & Bear It

Trails “Grin” and “Bear It” are rider favorites in the high alpines of Redstone, Colorado.

Dirt Tek Trails partnered with the Coal Basin Ranch stewardship team to construct a new set of directional downhill trails in the high-alpine terrain just outside Redstone, Colorado.

Our crew was tasked with flagging and building two progressive gravity trails and a key connector, expanding the trail offerings at Coal Basin and reinforcing the property’s focus on high-quality, human-powered recreation. The two trails Grin & Bear It quickly emerged as rider favorites, offering fast, flowing descents, thoughtful grade reversals, and natural berms that hug the mountain’s contours.

Built on land once shaped by coal mining, the Coal Basin project represents a unique intersection of recreation and restoration. We’re proud to have helped bring new life to these mountainsides with trails that invite speed, skill, and plenty of grins.
